Voice lessons for theatre kids, choir kids, curious singers, and brave beginners.

With Megann, students learn how their voice works, how music fits together, and how to feel more at home in a song.

What are lessons like?

I don't want this to feel scary, mysterious or overly fancy.

This is a place to try stuff out, notice things, ask questions, make ugly sounds (and pretty ones too!), but ultimately say, “Whoa, I did that!”

Some days we work on breath. Some days we work on a song for an upcoming audition. Some days we pull apart a tricky measure, clap rhythms, use solfège, sing through a straw (iykyk!), meow melodically, or maybe figure out why that one note keeps being rude and cracking. Some days, it’s all of those things.

My goal is for students to understand their voices better, build confidence, and grow their skills through practical work while having fun.

About Megann

Science-y credentials with a theatre kid heart.

Hi, I’m Megann.

I’m a voice teacher, performer, theatre kid, and lifelong music nerd. I started doing theatre when I was five, and I have been happily over-invested ever since.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Washington University, along with additional studies in music education, choir, and theatre arts.

As a voice teacher, I’m playful, prepared, encouraging, and very interested in helping students understand the “why.” I don’t want students to just copy a sound and hope it works again later. I want them to know what changed, what helped, and how we can keep building from there.

“Okay, so we’re doing this because…”

Singing with curiosity, confidence, and joyful weirdness.

What I teach

Voice, music, auditions, and the “why” behind it all.

Lessons are shaped around the student in front of me: their voice, their goals, their music, and what they need next.

Voice Lessons

Voice lessons help students build confidence by learning what their voice is doing and how to work with it.

We work on things like breath, range, resonance, tone, musicality, and singing with more ease through healthy technique. I love helping students find those little adjustments that suddenly make something click.

Audition & Performance Coaching

Auditions are a lot. I help students choose material, prepare cuts, work through nerves, understand the character and storytelling, and feel ready to walk into the audition room.

Coaching is available for musical theatre auditions, choir auditions, solo and ensemble, college auditions, and specific performance prep.

Music Theory, Ear Training & Sight Reading

I also help students with the music-reading side of things: music theory, solfège, ear training, intervals, rhythm, sight reading, and choral prep.

My goal is for students to feel more and more comfortable reading and understanding the musical notation on the page. We start wherever the student is and build from there.

Musical styles

Bring me the song. We’ll figure it out together.

I’m happy to work on many styles of music, depending on the student’s interests and goals.

My deepest loves are musical theatre, choral music, and classical voice, but I am here for the student in front of me.

Bring me your choir pieces, an audition cut, a Disney song, Sondheim, or any song you love but have been scared to try. We can figure it out together!

Every new student starts with a free intro lesson so we can meet, sing a little, talk about goals, and decide what kind of lesson setup makes sense. No pressure.

Ongoing Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered one-on-one from my home studio in Ferndale, Washington. Most students meet weekly, but lesson length and schedule can depend on the student’s age, goals, attention span, and what they’re preparing for.
